Moisture Management Tester Terms Explanation

1. Wetting time

Wetting time means the period of time from liquid contacting textile surface to water absorption. The time period when textile begins absorbing water is defined as the first time data which includes soaking surface wetting time and permeability surface wetting time.

2. Absorption rate

Moisure management tester absorption rate means the average data of textile surface moisture content changing curve slope. It shows textile moisture content changing rate in a certain period of time and includes soaking surface and permeability surface.

3. Maximum wetting radius

The maximum radius in wetting area during the time period when textile begins to be soaked until the pre-set time is over. It includes two parts soaking surface and permeability surface.

4. Spreading speed

Spreading speed means the accumulated transfer speed after textile is wet and spread the wetting places along radius direction which includes soaking side and permeability side moisture spreading speed.

5. Accumulative one-way transport capacity

Water transfer capacity from soaking side to permeability side is called the accumulative one-way transport capacity. It is displayed by a ratio of textile absorption content on both sides and testing time.

6. Overall moisture management tester capability

Overall moisture management capability means water dynamic transfer performance. It is represented by three factors which are permeability side absorption rate ARB, the one-way transport capability R and soaking side spreading speed weights SS_B. 

7. Evaporate speed

Drop some water on textile samples and hang them in the air until water droplets are evaporated, the evaporating content in a certain period of time in the time-evaporation curve interval.

8. Evaporate time

Evaporate time means the time period from dropping water to samples to textile samples are totally dry.

9. Wicking height

Wicking height is the measurement of textile samples capillary effect, that is, soak one end of the vertically hung textile, then water will rise through capillary in some time period.
