Primary & Middle School Students School Uniforms GB Issues

on June 30^th, Chinese national standards committee approved to issue GB/T 31888-2015 "School Uniforms for Primary and Middle School Students" which was the first GB on students uniforms and began to be implemented since publishing.

In order to settle the problem of school uniform quality safety, this committee absorbs a great amount of researching achievements, breaks woven & knitted garments limitation and finally establish this standard which is quite for the benefit of adolescents healthy growth. It shows complete regulation and builds safety defending line for school uniforms safety and quality.

It greatly improves requirements on school uniforms safety and quality and never classify uniforms into different grades any longer as that before. There will be only one same grade.

In terms of safety, the content of formaldehyde, PH value and aromatic amine dyes in school uniforms should be conforms to the GB 18401-2010 “National textile product basic safety technical specification” B requirements; flammability, accessories sharpness, apparel ropes belts and metal residue should be conformed to GB 31701-2015 “Infants and children textile products safety technical specification”.

The standard also regulates the general requirements should be equal to that of the first grade apparels, especially those quality features customers concern a lot such as color fastness, shrinkage rate, pilling and snagging, different color shades, fabric surface defects and wrong symmetric parts, etc. Some even have higher standards and part of them should be superior.

In order to ensure its comfort, the committee specially adds the regulation that cotton fiber content should be more that 35% particularly when the part directly contacts skin, besides, considering the comfort, there should be not any labels sewn in the collar.

 Therefore to produce comfortable and qualified school uniforms, the apparel testing equipmentis definitely a necessity for uniform manufacturing.
